Thinking About Backyard Chickens?
Don’t Forget Your License!

If you’re planning to keep backyard chickens in the Village of Weston, make sure you have your license in order! Residents must meet several key requirements to obtain a Backyard Chicken Permit:

  • Zoning compliance
  • Minimum lot size
  • A maximum of five hens (no roosters allowed)
  • Proper distance from property lines
  • A secure, enclosed coop and chicken run

Most importantly, you must apply for and receive a license, which is valid annually from April 1 through March 31. The license must be renewed each year.

To apply, submit a completed application, site plan, and $35 application fee, and schedule a site inspection.

Apply anytime online at www.westonwi.gov/epermits. Just create an account and follow the prompts under “License Application.”

Enjoy fresh eggs and a fun backyard hobby—just be sure to stay in compliance!

Trustee

Welcome Trustee Lopes-Serrao!
Luis Lopes-Serrao was appointed to the Board of Trustees and sworn in at the June 16, 2025, meeting to fill the vacancy left by Jim Pinsonneault.

Pet License

A huge thank you to our friends at Wausau Animal Hospital!

On Saturday, June 14, we held our free rabies vaccination and microchip clinic at the Weston Municipal Center. We had a good turnout of pets receiving care from these exceptional individuals.

Thank you also to Mountain Bay Metro Police Department for the funding of this event! We could not have done it without you.

Kennedy

Momentum continues to build for the Friends of Kennedy Park Renovation project, thanks to our community's generosity. The Village of Weston’s investment has been joined by a $500,000 gift from the Rajek family, dedicated to Field #4 in honor of Gary and Karen Rajek.

Both Gary & Karen were deeply rooted in Weston’s civic and business life—Gary through his leadership at Merrill Iron & Steel, and Karen as a devoted community volunteer and second-generation owner at Merrill Steel. Their daughter, Katie, and her family remain strong supporters of youth sports throughout the D.C. Everest area.
