Help Prevent Snow Melt Flooding
As spring and warmer weather approaches please help the Village reduce street flooding. If you have a storm sewer inlet near your home, and you’re able to, please help clear the snow away from the inlet to allow melting snow to easily drain away. To help identify where the inlets are located, there is usually a white mark in the middle of the road.
Any and all help is appreciated as there are a lot more inlets than staff to open them and once the snow starts melting it doesn’t take long for large puddles to form. In addition to inlets, if you have curb and gutter, you may want to clear snow away from the curb, down stream of your driveway, to help prevent ice from forming at the end of your driveway when the melting snow freezes at night.
Inlets and drains are easy to find in summer months, but in the winter they can get buried in the snowbanks. More than likely we will be receiving more snow yet this spring and keeping the inlets cleared will allow for proper snow melt drainage.
