Pet Licensing 2025

The Village of Weston is bringing pet licensing back in-house to provide local support and service to our community.

If you love them…license them!

Having your pets licensed provides the following:

Helps to quickly establish vaccination status in the event of a dog or cat bite which in turn spares the victim of a series of painful and expensive rabies shots.
Support to the Humane Society of Marathon County.
Improves your chances of getting your pet back if it goes missing.

The Village of Weston requires that all dogs five months of age or older be licensed. The licensing years runs from January 1 through December 31. A current rabies vaccination record must be provided in order to process a dog license. To avoid a late fee, please provide your application prior to March 31.

How to Apply for a License:

Complete the application form.
Mail the application along with payment and rabies vaccination record to the Weston Municipal Center or drop it off at the Clerk’s office. If paying by check, please do not include with your tax payment.

Fee Schedule:

Unaltered Cat License - $10
Unaltered Dog License - $20
Spayed/Neutered Cat License - $5
Spayed/Neutered Dog License - $10
Late Fee (After March 31) - $5

Villages of Weston and Rothschild Win Award from Asphalt Industry

The Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association (WAPA) awarded the Village of Weston and the Village of Rothschild with the 2024 Local Asphalt Award, for their work to advance innovation in asphalt pavements. Both municipalities were recognized at a ceremony on December 3rd during WAPA’s 65th Annual Conference in Wisconsin Dells.

The Villages of Weston and Rothschild were already planning a joint project to build a new roundabout when a local WAPA member described the benefits of long-life pavements. Working closely with the project’s engineer, the villages modified their design plans to produce a pavement that will last longer and require only minimal maintenance for the foreseeable future.

“These municipalities are prime examples of how collaboration and innovation can benefit everyone,” said Deb Schwerman, WAPA Executive Director. “Because of their forward thinking, they will be able to maintain this long-life pavement for years to come with minimal impacts to the daily users.”

Michael Wodalski, Public Works Director, accepted the award for the Village of Weston.

Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce the return of the Holiday Lights Recycle Program! Habitat Wausau takes holiday lights that are new or old. Broken or tangled lights are gladly accepted.

Collection boxes are convenient locations across the community and will be out now through January 15th. Wausau Habitat ReStore takes holiday lights all year round during regular store and donation hours of operation.
