4th of July Safety Tips

As we move into the heart of summer in Wisconsin we celebrate the 4th of July which often includes parties, fireworks, cookouts, and boating. During these events, we want to remind the community to keep you, your friends, and families safety in mind. Each year thousands of injuries occur from fireworks across the country, many times to children. Even items that seem safe such as sparklers reach temperatures of nearly 2,000 degrees that can easily cause injury. Fireworks also cause almost 30,000 fires annually in the United States resulting in millions of dollars in damage. Keep in mind that many fireworks in Wisconsin are illegal without a permit. If it leaves the ground, it's illegal. Items such as toy snakes, sparklers, and smoke bombs are not considered fireworks and are legal.

If you spend your time on the water, be sure to have a life jacket, check your equipment before getting on the water, and always let family or friends know where you are going and when you plan to return. If you plan to enjoy your day in the backyard with a campfire be sure to review the outdoor burning regulations found on the Village website or by clicking HERE. SAFER wishes all of our residents a safe and enjoyable 4th of July. We hope we do not have to meet, but if you should need our services over the holiday, we as always are here for the community.
