2023-2024 Tax collection summary.

In addition to collecting taxes levied for Village operations, Village staff is responsible for collecting the taxes for the DC Everest School District, North Central Technical College, and Marathon County. Total monies processed at the Village from December 15 – January 31 was $21,728,730. On January 31, 2024, $6,451,675 was outstanding. Of that, $1,500,018 was delinquent including parcels where less than the 1st installment was paid and $4,951,657 represents the second installment payments that will be due July 31.

Of the total collected…………

  • $202,405 was paid with credit cards
  • $2,962,457 was collected at the local banks
  • $3,580,028 was collected over the counter at the municipal center
  • $14,983,840 was collected through the mail

Both the Clerk and Finance department do an excellent job of keeping track of all funds that come through our door down to the penny.

This year with the cost of postage increasing to 64 cents the Village decided not to mail receipts without a self-addressed stamp envelope. Instructions on downloading your receipt were included on the insert, if you need help getting your receipt give us a call.

Burning Permits

Unseasonably warm weather has all of us thinking about cooking out and sitting around the campfire. During the winter months, humidity levels are low and despite the snow, the ground is very dry. DNR rules dictate that with less than 1 inch of snow cover during the winter months, a burning permit is required. SAFER recognizes DNR burning permits which can be filled out online and printed. A link for DNR burning permits can be found on our website at www.saferfd.com. Please refer to the burning guidelines for the Village of Weston that can be found in the QR code below.

D.C. Everest School Field Trip

A field trip to our municipal center on February 13, 2024, was a hit! Students were able to check out the Public Works portion of the building along with the equipment they use on a daily basis. Learning the different types of equipment and what they do along with getting a front-row seat to see the machines move and step into one for themselves!

From the Law Enforcement Appreciation Project:

"An emotional feeling comes over you when you see law enforcement gathered for a community thank-you effort. They put their hearts into their ‘jobs’ to keep us protected day and night. So we put our hearts into continuing to show our appreciation, one gift card presentation after another.

Thank you to AbbyBank for hosting the event and providing donuts and coffee as a warm nod to our law enforcement!

And thank you to our community—businesses and individuals alike—for continuing to support this cause: creating a perpetual pay-it-forward to our devoted community protectors."
